It’s Day 6 of the Running Advent Calendar and today I’m going to continue my list of running routes from around the world with another one I have not yet done but hope to one day – and that is in London, England.
I have been fortunate enough to visit London once in my life, but my short time there was certainly not long enough for my liking. I had about a 10 hour layover between flights a couple years ago and decided to hop on the tube and check out the city as best I could with what little time I had.
I was able to take in as many sites as I could, but unfortunately did not have the time nor the convenience of going for a run.
If I have the chance to go back, I would love to run along the River Thames.
The historic sites and a run along this equally as historic river are so appealing to me, that even the mass quantity of tourists that will likely be strolling along the river won’t stop me from enjoying this route.
It is one of the world’s most famous waterways and with views of some of Central London’s oldest and most stunning looking buildings, I would love to one day be able to take it all in.
Stay tuned for Day 7 of the Running Advent Calendar tomorrow and check out Days 1 – 5 of my Running Advent Calendar here in case you missed them:
Day 1: Lakeside, PEI, Canada
Day 2: Loch Lomond, Scotland
Day 3: San Francisco, California, USA
Day 4: Gatineau Park, Quebec, Canada
Day 5: Central Park, New York, USA

I am in love with your running advent calendar! What a smart idea!
Thank you! I am having so much fun writing it!!
I can’t take all the credit though – I got the idea from Carina at http://crriena.wordpress.com/2012/12/07/running-advent-calendar-day-7/ She has some awesome places listed too!
Absolutely agree with this – great choice of a route! It’s also beautiful to run in the Royal Parks – Hyde, Green, but my favourite is St James – stunning especially in the early spring with the snowdrops and crocuses coming up!
My train to work goes past Tower Bridge everyday! Very interesting reading your blog and where you’ve been 🙂
Thanks for stopping by to read my blog!
And that’s very cool you get to see such a historic part of London everyday!
I loved watching the London Olympics Marathon this summer. What a fantastic place to run. So much history, so much to see.
Running is a great way to see a new place. You can see more than you would by walking or driving. Great series!
